America in the Second Civil War

I believe President Donald Trump, upon losing his 2020 bid for re-election, put into motion key steps to overthrow the government in order to remain president.

The most obvious move in doing this was his actions in leading an insurrection to overthrow the Congress of the United States of America on January 6,2021

Blood was spilled, lives were lost, and for almost six hours the insurrection was successful. Finally, the National Guard, Metro and Capital Police were successful in restoring order, allowing Congress to reconvene to count the electoral votes favoring Joe Biden as the new president of the country.

In my mind the event of the January 6 insurrection was the first battle of the second civil war America has faced. The first of course was the Civil War of 1861.

As things presently stand, we are still in a state of civil war, and if Trump, who has already been indicted for the first insurrection, loses his second bid to win the 2024 presidential campaign, violence will ensue across the country. Trump will immediately be placed under arrest and jailed. Early on, he will be found guilty of treason, resulting in imprisonment for the rest of his life.

Meanwhile, the National Guard will be called up to fight the insurrectionists who take up arms in support of Trump until they are either killed or detained as war criminals.

The new president will have the power to commute Trump’s sentence, but unlike Lincoln, who pardoned Jefferson Davis for his rebellion as president of the southern states secession from the Union, Trump will not be spared for his actions in the first attempt to overthrow Congress.

Thus, history will record and count Trump as the fallen leader of the second civil war started January 6, 2021 and, while in office as president, actively working to overthrow the result the presidential election of 2020.

On the other hand, in the present election cycle of 2024, if Donald Trump should win back the presidency, he most assuredly will attempt to pull up Article 1 sections 1, 2, and 3 of the Constitution which could grant extended powers to him.

In the theme of the “2025 Report” put out by the Heritage Foundation, this would most assuredly lead to the creation of a “unitary presidency”. Under such a set up, the handling of cabinet officers would be managed and controlled more directly. Social welfare programs will most likely be delegated out to the states and managed by governors. The military would report directly to the president. Intelligence agencies would come directly under the military, meaning the domestic and foreign intelligence will be left up to the military at the direction of the president. The Constitution will be cancelled and a new one will be drawn up favoring a return to isolationism following the Revolutionary War of 1776.

Continuing, a unitary president would have the option to adjust, change or cancel elections based on circumstances facing the country.

A unitary president is not a king, but has the power to initiate war without permission from congress. He also will restrict foreign entanglements leading to war.

Traditionally, Republicans have been in favor of some form of extended power given to the president. Obviously, Democrats have not supported such a move.

Donald Trump stands to gain immense power if elected President of the United States. He will first excuse all possible federal criminal charges and convictions against him. Next he will work to have the powers of the presidency expanded under the provisions set forth by Article 1 of the Constitution mentioned above.

He would then come close to becoming a leader with powers similar to those in Russia and China. They are dictators, he is a unitary president. This distinction will be without a difference in the world to come.

Big election. Very big consequences.
